This rock came from the rocky bed of the #intertidal section of the #severnestuary. Looks like some form of fossilised mammoth shoulder/scapula bone to me .. maybe a bambino .. but then it is probable a random shaped rock đ. Also looks a bit like a massive tooth or dorsal fin.. but then just a rock.
The end of the stone looks very much like a joint also.
More pics of the stone/fossil/dino bone ;-)
Pic of a mammoth scapula from the interweb .. could it be? Given that a horn from a mammoth was found just 20 miles away there is a possibility this is a fossilised dinosaur bone of some description.
It's on the small side compared to the above.
The fossil/rock was found on the furthest point of the rocky outcrop that most of the time is covered by the Severn. To access it at low tide means getting muddy and sticking to a well trodden path!
This section is mainly made of red clay or a reasonably brittle stone. The rock was among clusters of rocks some of which have some potentially anatomical shapes (see below). I am probably seeming things I want to see but these other stones seem to be the same density and not at all like the underlying bedrock.
